Is it free to list a car?
Yes — listing a car on BuyAndSellCar is free, whether it's a fixed-price listing or an auction.
How do payments work for fixed-price listings?
Buyers pay securely through Stripe using the "Buy now" button on a listing. Once payment goes through, the listing is automatically marked as sold.
How do auctions work?
Sellers set a starting price and an end date. Anyone signed in can place a bid as long as it beats the current highest — there's no minimum increment or reserve price. When the auction ends, the seller and winning bidder are shown each other's contact email to arrange payment directly; there's no in-app checkout for auctions.
What happens if I win an auction?
You'll see a "You won this auction!" banner on the listing page. Use the Message seller button to get in touch and arrange payment and collection between yourselves.
Can I edit or delete a listing after posting it?
Yes — go to Dashboard → My Listings, where you can view or delete any of your active listings.
How do I contact a seller?
Open the listing and click "Message seller." You'll need to be signed in — messages and replies appear in your Dashboard under Messages.
Can I use the site outside Ireland?
Yes — while BuyAndSellCar is Ireland-focused, listings can be posted from and searched across any country, with pricing shown in the correct local currency for each listing.
Can I change the currency or language?
Yes — use the Currency and Language icons in the header (or menu, on mobile). The currency converter covers every country's currency with live rates where available, and the site can be translated into over 100 languages.
Is my payment information safe?
Yes — all payments are processed directly by Stripe. BuyAndSellCar never sees or stores your card details.
